Large areas of high forest have been burnt by the fire. In addition to that, in the southern part of the island many areas where the unique species Pistacia lentiscus var. Chia is been cultivated for centuries were burnt. Analysis of the burnt area is needed for the recovery phase (forest restoration measures, evaluation of damages in other land uses)
