Bioeconomy Patents

The JRC - Bioeconomics patent dataset has been elaborated by JRC. This database in built on fractional counting of IP5 patent families, assigning them to the applicant’s country.

Patents are assigned to the different sector that are part of the bioeconomy following a correspondence table between IPC (International Patent Classification) technological classes and NACE (Nomenclature statistique des activités économiques) classes.

The geographical scope of this database is the EU, processed as aggregate and at individual EU Member state level.
