This data set contains 478 million individual positions of virtual P. Physalis colonies within the Mediterranean Sea. The data set is constructed by simulating the entrance of 1000 colonies per day into the Mediterranean Sea through the strait of Gibraltar for the months of January, February, March and April of each year between 2008 and 2018. The position of each individual colony was tracked and stored daily until the end of each particular year.
The combination of this data set with an extraction, plotting and analysis script constitutes the whole Physalia-SIM tool, that allows to forecast the arrival time of these organisms to any coastal region within the Mediterranean basin.
