Description
The 6-month Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI-6) is an indicator used to monitor meteorological drought based on precipitation anomalies over 6-month accumulation periods. SPI-6 serves as a proxy for medium-term impacts, such as reduced stream flow and reservoir storage. The input data for calculating the SPI-6 is CPC (NOAA (USA National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) Climate Prediction Center) global precipitation.
