Activation reason:
On 08/09/2021 a large forest fire started with three outbreaks in the municipalities of Jubrique, Genalguacil and Estepona (Málaga). It affects the Genal River Special Conservation Area and the Los Reales Natural Area. The first investigations carried out by the SEPRONA of Guardia Civil indicate that could be deliberate. About 400 people have been evacuated as a precautionary measure and several roads have been cut, including the AP 7 motorway towards Algeciras. Due to the virulence of fire evolution and adverse weather conditions, Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping is requested to provide first estimate, delineation and classification products.
