Activation reason:
Two wildfires are raging at Karpathos Island, in South Aegean region, Greece, burning down forests and rural areas. The first one started on Thursday afternoon 23/9/2021 and the second on Friday morning 24/9/2021. The strong wind and high flammability of forest fuels due to prolonged draught, make the work of firefighters very difficult. According to Fire Service 30 firefighters with 7 vehicles were operating at the first fire and 38 firefighters with 6 vehicles were operating at the second fire, assisted by 5 helicopters, 5 planes, volunteers and means from the local municipal.
