In the early hours of December 8, 2020, a strong meteorological system affected most of Italy with heavy rain, thunderstorms and snow. The event hit in particular the south-eastern part of Lazio Region where heavy rainfall has been recorded throughout the day. The regional Civil protection of Lazio Region issued a red alert for the Liri basin and several rivers reached the second or third alert level. Several local floods were reported in the industrial park and surrounding agricultural areas between the two cities of Sora and Isola del Liri.
