Event type: Wildfire (Forest fire)
Activation reason:
Early Tuesday morning, the 19/07/2022, a large fire broke out in the area between Monfalcone and Doberdò del Lago in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy. The fire has continued to spread approaching the A4 highway, reaching about 250 meters from the carriageway: the section in the direction of Venice was closed and personnel at the Trieste exit were evacuated. Many trains have been cancelled, others are delayed. The National and Regional Civil Protection System has already been activated. The density of smoke in the air caused by the flames has affected the large Fincantieri plant in Monfalcone (Gorizia), which is closed today. The fire is still ongoing and about 20 houses have already been evacuated. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping is requested to provide a First Estimate Product, daily delineation monitoring and grading analysis.
