Activation reason:
Wildfires are one of the main environmental hazards that regularly threaten the Iberian Peninsula. On 8 September at 13h55 a fire broke out in the Sierra de Los Guájares Granada province. It affected an estimated 5,194 hectares, mainly forest, and was only extinguished after 27 days. The aim of this activation is to qualify and quantify the effects of the forest fire on the Sierra de Los Guájares, through fire delineation and grading; an analysis of impacts on land cover, population, and assets; an assessment of changes in soil erosion risk; and an estimation of economic losses.
