Activation reason:
A forest fire started near Ornes village in Rethymno regional unit (Crete, Greece) on Friday morning, burning forest, scrub and cultivated fields. Residents in the village of Melambes were ordered to evacuate. Copernicus EMS Mapping products will be used mainly by local authorities (Forest Service, Fire Service, Region of Crete, municipalities) for recovery and restoration planning of the affected area.
