On the 10 may 2023 A forest fire started in Nitta, west of Ulricehamn, Sweden. The event is on-going and has already burned a considerable area. The authority for public safety and preparedness has sent about 30 firefighters and two scooping aircraft to the scene. Fire containment is difficult because of strong winds and severe dry conditions of vegetation and soil. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping is requested to provide initial rough estimation, fire extent emergency mapping and daily monitoring.
