Activation reason:
Since 3 August a fire has been burning in the municipality of Monchique, in the district of Faro. This fire already has burned an area over 3 000 ha. At this moment wind direction forecasts suggest this fire has a high potential to affect the urban area of Monchique. Portugal has therefore triggered the Copernicus Emergency Mapping Service to monitor the evolution of the forest fire.
