Activation reason:
On 17 August 2019, a fire started in the Municipality of Valleseco, which is in the western part of Gran Canaria Island. As a consequence of this fire, hundreds of people have been forced to evacuate their homes. The municipalities of Valleseco, Moya, Tejeda y Galdar are among the villages where people were told to evacuate. The fire is very virulent and according to the EFFIS, over the coming hours the fire danger risk is forecast from high to extreme over Canary islands.
