Harvey made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane on August 25, 2017 at 11:00 p.m. EDT at San Jose Island, Texas. Harvey caused prolonged heavy rains, flooding and storm surge along the Texas coast. President Donald J. Trump issued a Major Disaster Declaration for the state of Texas, making federal funding available for emergency work and to affected individuals and businesses owners who sustain damage as a result of the storm.
