Activation reason:


This activation follows a windstorm occurred in the Gorenjska Region, Slovenia, which caused severe damages to the woods in the area surrounding the airport of Ljubljana. The event hit the area twice: on the 5th and 6th of February 2020, and few days later, on the 10th and 11th of February 2020. The Authorized User requested the damage assessment of woods within the area of interest.Proposed solution and resultsGeneration of a post-event DSM (5m GSD, 0.71 m RMSE).Detailed damage assessment by photo-interpretation of VHR Optical satellite images.Impact assessment analyses through the comparison with the reference forest stand dataset. Figure 1 - Detail of the post-event DSM Figure 2 - Affected areas per damage grade per forest stand Figure 3 - Two examples of tree cover affected areas.
