Event type: Wildfire (Forest fire)
Activation reason:
On 18 August 2022, a fire started near Örkény, Tatárszentgyörgy and Táborfalva, Pest County, Hungary, burning rorest, bush and dry grass.
In 3 days, the intervening forces of the disaster management and the national army managed to put out the large-scale fire when it already burnt 1800 hectares.
Due to the comprehensive damage assessment and the difficult-to-access area, it is necessary to activate the Rapid Mapping Service of the Copernicus Emergency Management Service (EMS) for mapping of the burned area.
