The Emissions Database for Global Atmospheric Research (EDGAR) provides global past and present day anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases and air pollutants by country and on spatial grid. The current development of EDGAR is a joint project of the European Commission JRC Joint Research Centre and the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL).

Anybody can directly and anonymously access the data, without being required to register or authenticate.

  • Annual gridded emission by compound and selected sectors are available for download in 3 different spatial resolutions: 0.1 x 0.1 degree (as zipped txt file, emission value representing lower left corner of grid cell); 0.1 x 0.1 degree (netcdf); 0.5 x 0.5 degree (netcdf); 1.0 x 1.0 degree (netcdf).
