Severe weather has been affecting northern and central Albania over the past day, causing floods. According to media, as of 1 December at least 39 families were evacuated and 18 houses flooded in the most hit areas of Vorë, Marikaj (Tirana precfecture), Fushe Kruje, Kurbin, Mamurras (Lezhë County). All over the country, approximately 71 000 houses are currently without electricity and several flights have been cancelled. Over the next 48 hours, more heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast to affect the country, especially the southern and internal areas.The Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) is closely monitoring the situation and is in permanent contact with the Albanian Civil Protection authorities. Copernicus Emergency Management Service has been activated to map the affected areas and support the national relief efforts.
