Activation time (UTC): 2022-11-26 11:22:00
Event time (UTC): 2022-11-26 04:00:00
Event type: Mass movement (Landslide)
Activation reason:
During the night of Nov. 25 and the early hours of the 26th, a deep cyclone centred over Italy brought heavy rains to central and southern Italy, particularly over Campania. The heavy rains triggered a huge landslide (mudflow) on the mountainside near Casamicciola hamlet on the island of Ischia, just off the coast of Campania. At least ten houses were destroyed and several roads were interrupted by the landslide (mudflow), and several cars along the roads were carried into the sea. Rescue operations are still ongoing even though the island, due to bad weather conditions, is still unreachable and isolated.
