European Monitoring of Biodiversity in Agricultural Landscapes (EMBAL) is a project was commissioned by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Environment (DG ENV). It is a LUCAS-compatible field survey that visits 500 × 500m plots chosen from a 2 × 2 km grid across all EU-27 during the peak phenological period. In each campaign it records land-cover, landscape elements, habitat types, plot-scale biodiversity and pollination resources.
This EMBAL viewer provides access to EMBAL data and plots without georeferenced information or the field photographs collected by surveyors.
If you are interested in using the EMBAL data with geolocation and/or photos taken in the survey, please fill in the Research proposal template provided below and send it to JRC-EMBAL-DATA@ec.europa.eu
