Activation reason:
A forest fire started on Saturday morning, near Vatera village in Lesvos island (Lesvos Regional Unit, Greece), burning pine forest, scrub and cultivated fields. Residents in the village of Vatera were ordered to evacuate. The fire is ongoing and according to Fire Service 52 firefighters with 22 vehicles are operating in the area, assisted by 25 ground force groups, 2 helicopters and 9 planes. Volunteer firefighters (42), military personnel (32), water tankers and local government machinery are assisting.
