Activation reason:
From the late evening of 18th October, for a few hours an intense weather event with heavy rain occurred in Sicily. The most affected area was the south-eastern part of the region. In the previous days the area had already been affected by heavy rainfall. The highest intensity of precipitation has been recorded by the rain gauge of Palagonia (Catania) with 240 mm of rain recorded in a few hours.
