Last summer a great fire broke out in the mountains of the north of the Cáceres department, tributaries that pour their waters into the Tietar river spring from the affected mountains. Also, on the 20th and 21st of October 2020, the same area has received heavier rainfall than usual during a short lap of time.
Currently, the river has registered the highest level in years. On the 21st, level 1 of the Special Plan for Civil Protection was activated due to flood risk in Extremadura (Spain).
