Flood in Kosovo (2023-02-23)

Collection: CEMS-RRM : CEMS Risk and Recovery Mapping

Description

Activation date: 2023-02-23
Event type: Flood

Activation reason:

The CEMS Risk and Recovery Standard has been activated in order to assess the damages and consequences produced by a flood in northern, eastern and western Kosovo. Due to temperatures over 20°C in Eastern Europe in mid-January 2023 in combination with heavy rain, the warm spell has triggered a heavy flood across the Balkans, including parts of Kosovo, where the Ibar River and other streams overflowed on 19 and 20 January 2023, endangering homes and cutting off local roads.P02-Reference dataset product will provide comprehensive information on assets and population for pre and post-disaster applications. To illustrate the extent of the flooded area as well as the flood temporal evolution, P04-Flood delineation and P06-Temporal analyses of occurred flood event will be produced. P06 providing several layers showing a temporal sequence of flood events, will be represented separately in a P13-mapbook for field campaigns product.P14 – Impact assessment analyses on assets and population will support the exposure assessment due to the flood event.
