Activation reason:
Australia is currently experiencing a prolonged rainfall event across large parts of the continent. This ongoing weather pattern, now driven by a La Nina event, is resulting in large areas of flood inundation within Southern Queensland and Northern New South Wales. There are currently numerous flood warnings (several Major) issued for rivers and their catchments throughout both States. The relevant authorities in Queensland (Queensland Fire and Emergency Services) have indicated there could be potential impacts to life and property in the coming days.
